Indian Army Thwarts Infiltration Attempt, Eliminates 3 Terrorists in Kupwara

Kupwara, J&K
: The Indian Army successfully foiled an infiltration attempt by a group of heavily armed terrorists along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Keran sector of Kupwara district on Sunday, July 14th.

In the ongoing anti-infiltration operation, code-named Dhanush II, three terrorists were eliminated. The security forces also recovered weapons and other war-like stores from the area. Operations are still in progress, according to the Srinagar-based Chinar Corps of the Army.

This incident follows a series of recent terrorist attacks in the Jammu region, including a deadly ambush on an Army patrol in Kathua on July 8th, resulting in the deaths of five soldiers.

The infiltration attempt comes amidst the annual Amarnath Yatra pilgrimage, raising concerns about security in the region. The pilgrimage, which started on June 29th, attracts thousands of devotees from across the country.

Security forces in Jammu and Kashmir have intensified counter-terrorism operations in recent months, dismantling terrorist hideouts and arresting overground workers (OGWs) and sympathizers. Additionally, a massive security revamp is underway, with plans to deploy the army and the CRPF on all mountain tops in the Jammu division to prevent hit-and-run attacks.
