BDL Awards ₹10.90 Crore Order to Apollo Micro Systems for Advanced Homing System of Heavy Weight Torpedoes

Apollo Micro Systems Ltd has secured a landmark order worth ₹10.90 crore from Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL). The contract entails the development and supply of a cutting-edge Software Defined Universal Homing System, designed to significantly enhance the targeting capabilities of Heavy Weight Torpedoes.

This sophisticated technology, a product of joint development between Apollo Micro Systems and the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), marks a significant stride in India's underwater warfare capabilities. The system's advanced features position Apollo Micro Systems as the sole qualified vendor for this critical component, underscoring its strategic role in India's submarine programs.

The order signals the commencement of large-scale production of these advanced torpedoes, which will be integrated into the nation's strategic submarines. This development resonates with the Ministry of Defence's Embargo List, which prioritizes the incorporation of indigenous systems into the Indian Armed Forces.

Beyond this pivotal order, Apollo Micro Systems has further solidified its presence in the defence sector. The company has been declared the lowest bidder for a ₹5.73 crore project from the Controllerate of Naval Armament. This project entails the development of a Rocket Guided Bomb for Anti-Submarine Warfare, capable of being deployed from ships in salvos.

These accomplishments underscore Apollo Micro Systems' growing expertise in the underwater warfare domain, establishing it as a key contributor to India's defence capabilities. The company's success in developing and producing systems for Expendable Decoys and Underwater Mines further highlights its commitment to advancing India's defence technology.

In addition to Heavy Weight Torpedoes, Apollo Micro Systems has successfully adapted this homing technology for Light Weight Torpedoes, in collaboration with BDL. This next-gen Homing System is poised to be a global leader in its category, capable of effectively countering complex underwater threats.

These advancements collectively signify a significant leap forward for Apollo Micro Systems in the realm of underwater warfare, reinforcing its position as a key player in the defence sector and contributing to a more self-reliant and technologically advanced Indian defence industry.
